With such a promising occupation, where in the United States are the best places for chefs and head chefs to work? Here at AdvisorSmith, we conducted a study in 227 U.S. cities.

Our rankings were based on several key factors, including average annual salary, cost of living, and location quotient, and cities were classified into small, medium and large cities based on the population of the metropolitan statistical area. After careful analysis, we determined which are the 50 most attractive cities for chefs and head chefs. The top 50 cities for the chefs in our studio consisted of a fairly balanced combination of small, medium and large cities.

There were 11 small cities, 20 medium-sized cities and 19 large cities among the top 50 cities. It should be noted that Florida dominated the top ten, with 4 of the top ten cities in Florida. This can be attributed to a multitude of factors, including Florida's high tourism rate and the large retired population.
